Ariane Arlotti vit à Genève, travaille à Genève et ailleurs.
Diplômée de l’Ecole Supérieure d’Art Visuel (ESAV) à Genève, elle obtient un double diplôme en expression tridimensionelle et en histoire de l’art en 1995. En 2000 elle suis une formation d’infographiste multimédia.
Depuis elle développe son travail essentiellement avec la photographie.
Avec les thèmes du portrait et de l’auto-portrait elle a commencé a explorer le corps comme support, jusqu’aux limites de l’abstraction. (« Portraits aux fruits » en 2001, « portraits aux pierres », « autoportraits à deux » en 2003).
Par la suite, dans ses recherches, l’interprétation du spectateur et son regard, ont commencer à faire partie intégrante de son travail (« Vous êtes étranger ?, A quoi ? » en 2002, Hétéropride2050 » en 2004).
Son travail l’a amenée à créer deux collectifs d’artistes pluridisciplinaires qui ont réalisé une dizaine d’interventions dans l’espace publique suisse. L’Organisation mondiale de la Réflexion (OMR) en 2001-2002, et les Artistes Associés Homosexuels (AAH) entre 2002 et 2006. Les interventions-performances réalisées par ces deux collectifs ont provoqué et tendu à désamorcer en utilisant l’humour, les préjugés les plus tenaces à l’encontre de l’autre avec ses différences et ses étrangetés.
En 2008 elle à réalisé une installation/projections/expositions « Le corps politique » qui a donné à voir des images non maîtrisées des femmes et hommes politiques genevois, dans un milieu ou le contrôle de l’image est de rigueur.
De 2013 à 2017 elle a exposé et fait une tournée européenne avec son projet Destination Checkpoints. Un vaste travail de photos et de vidéo sur les dispositifs de contrôle et de sécurité en Cisjordanie.
Elle continue de réaliser des mandats photographiques pour des institutions et des privés. Elle a également été conseillère municipale en Ville de Genève de 2007 à 2011 et de 2017 à 2019.

After studying at Ecole des Arts Décoratifs, Ariane enrolled in the Ecole Supérieure d’Art Visuel, where she graduated in 1995 in Tridimensional Expression as well as in History of Art. In 2000, she also studied multimedia computer graphic design.
Since, her work has developed mostly around photography.
She began to explore the human body using portraits and self portraits themes, and brought it to the limits of abstraction. (“Portraits aux fruits” 2001, “Portraits aux pierres” and “Autoportraits a deux” 2003).
Later on, while pursuing her research, she incorporated the views and insights of the general public in her work (“Vous êtes étranger? A quoi ? – “You are a stranger? To what? in 2002 and “Hétéropride2050” – “Straightpride2050” in 2004).
She created two multidisciplinary artist collectives, with whom she carried out a dozen of interventions in the Swiss public arena including L’Organisation mondiale de la Réflexion (OMR) in 2001 and 2002, and the Artistes Associés Homosexuels (AAH) in between 2002 and 2006. These performances using humor provoked diverse reactions and in turn have contributed to defuse tenacious preconceived thoughts and ideas about other people’s differences and strangeness.
In 2008, Ariane created “Le corps politique” (“The political body”) an installation/projection/exhibition offering viewers unchecked photographs of Geneva political men and women in an environment where the image is usually so rigorously controlled.
Between 2013 to 2017 she exposed and made an european Tour with the project Destination Checkpoints. A big photographic work about the dispositifs of control and security in Westbank.
Meanwhile since 1996, she has worked as a photographer with theaters, operas, Swiss and French museums as well as private venues providing them with a wide range of publications. She has been involved in politics and was one of Geneva’s city advisers from 2007 to 2011 and from 2017 to 2019.
